I’ve been eating Subway Salads for four months straight for lunch every day- I can get any sandwich as a salad which is good for me because I have Celiac Sprue- no wheat, no gluten, no bread. I was hoping Subway would label their salads gluten free food so I could claim my salads as a tax item at the end of the year like I do with the rest of my gluten free food. Thanks for the consideration and giving Celiacs more choices everyday, keep up the good work!

My twin and I love subway! It helped us to become healthier and we both were able to lose about 30 pounds. Weighing in at 246 pounds with elevated liver blood enzymes (AST/ALT), high cholesterol, and high triglycerides, my PCP and GI doctors advised me to lose between 25-50 pounds and improve my diet which, at the time, consisted of fast food and 5-6 cans of soda a day. With support from my wife, I embarked on a weight-loss journey, beginning December 31, 2007. Having known about the success of Jared, I decided to incorporate a daily Subway sub (my personal choice is turkey on wheat!) to my diet. Accompanying my sub is an order of apples and a bottle of water – once my own personal diet kryptonite. In addition to changing my diet, I signed up at a local gym and began a 5-6 day/week exercise regimen. Long story short, as of July 20,2008, I have dropped 66 pounds (to 180) and reduced all my blood levels to normal and improved my blood pressure readings tremendously (from 135/90 to 105/65). The before/after pictures are remarkable. A little Subway and a little exercise go a long way!

My name is Michael, but I go by Brandon. I am currently a student at East Carolina University, studying Recreational Therapy. In January 2008 I was 330lbs, but determined to finally get my weight off and make myself a healthy person who lives a healthy life, after all, how can I teach people to live healthy lives if I’m not living one myself. Now, since January I have lost from 330lbs to now 240 (90 total so far) with a goal to lose a total of 115. I have cut out all unhealthy foods from my diet but without sacrificing taste. In November of 07, I started eating Subway 4 times a week, a footlong loaded down, sometimes double stacked. I weighed 360 pounds at age 17. I’m 18 now, and since I started eating Subway and exercising 8 hours Saturday morning, I have lost more than 50 pounds, and still losing weight. I purchased a belt, which I still have, a week before I started eating Subway. I have had to punch about 5 holes in it. I lost 10 inches off my waist, and I have almost nothing of a gut anymore. I have been faithful to the Subway challenge and have lost 16 lbs. in 3 weeks. I have fit into the next smaller pants size! I find the sandwiches to be very delicious and the variety is awesome. I eat the footlong for lunch & the 6-inch for dinner. I start my day with a granola bar and snack on fruits and vegetables. I am 44 years old and glad I can say I am finally eating healthier!

All my life due to poor food choices and NO exercise, I have been heavy. High school was not fun. Dating, the prom, and all those things were miserable because I was overweight. I carried it into my adult life. Telling myself I was a happy “Big Girl.” Knowing it was a flat out lie. I was miserable, miserable, miserable. Every choice I made in my life stemmed from that misery. After two kids and a failed relationship, I know I had to reinvent myself, my eating habits and my life, for my sake and my children’s.

I have spent the past 4 years making myself aware of nutrition and portions. In a fast food life, Subway was and still is a Godsend. I can always depend on fresh and fit food, that I can alter anyway I see fit. I started my journey at 230 pounds and in a size 22. I sit before you today at 128 pounds and in a size 6.

At the age of twenty-two I maxed out at a whopping 300 lbs. I had always wanted to join the military but guess what, they don’t take overweight individuals. I talked to the Army recruiter and was all but laughed out of the office. I could not blame them, I was not the image that the military wanted to represent them.

They sent me on my way with a weight loss plan and a goal. I had a goal and the motivation but I did not have a way to lose the weight. I tried the plan the recruiter gave me to no avail. I even tried a lot of the weight loss gimmicks seen on TV. After all that nothing had changed except that I had a lot less money in my pocket. It came down to one last ditch effort to reach my goal. I decided, even though it looked like it could never work, to try the Subway diet. I started with a normal footlong cold cut trio and over a period of time cut it down to a six-inch sweet onion chicken teriyaki. This with a mild work-out routine helped me to lose over 100 lbs.

After reaching my weight goal I returned to the recruiter’s office. I proceeded to ask to speak to the recruiter that helped me the first time and he did not recognize me. I then proceeded to tell him that I was in his office a few months earlier but I looked a little different. They all were in awe at the drastic change in my appearance but refused to believe that Subway was responsible. It took me having a few of my friends vouch for me til they wound up believing me. This was such an astonishing thing for the guys in the recruiting office that they had to make it known.

They then had my story put in the recruiter’s digest and proceeded to recommend this to other potential recruits. Not only that, they decided to try the diet themselves. Well I have been in the army going on 3 and a half years now and still to this day have people ask me how I lost the weight. Although they don’t believe me I tell them Subway was the way. This has earned me the nickname “Jared” from my fellow comrades. Well that is the gist of my Subway story. I am still sitting at a healthy 175 lbs. and enjoying every minute of it. Thank you Subway!

As a young teenager in middle school, I suffered from extreme childhood obesity. During the summer before my freshman year in high school, I met Jared at a health fair in Kentucky when visiting my grandmother. Out of all the people, medications, and gadgets at this health fair, Jared was the most inspirational and realistic of it all. I got to hear his story, see his vision, and live his dream despite the difference in our weight loss totals.

After his speech about the Subway diet, exercise, and motivation, I was fortunate enough to talk to Jared and receive an autographed picture of both of us. “All it requires is a will and plan best-suited for you,” Jared said. “I have faith in you and know that you will be successful.”

To hear Jared, a celebrity and man of character, have confidence in me instantly sent my confidence through the roof. From that day forward, I changed my life for the better.

I went on the Atkins Diet, which included at least one Subway salad per day. My workouts increased dramatically. I would swim twice a day competitively for four hours and then did weights and cardio for another two to three hours. In the summer before my freshman year in high school, I lost eighty pounds with my plan, work, and inspiration from Jared. I have kept the weight off and continue to lose weight.

Currently, I am a freshman in college and still frequent the local Subway often for a salad or two. This reflection comes during my fourth year of keeping it off, and I am so happy that both Jared and I could successfully carry out our plans. But the words Jared told me ring loudly in my mind to this day and serve as inspiration to me still. I framed that picture of us and look at it constantly to remind myself of my goals, dreams, achievements, and positive outlook on life.

When I reflect on my success, I am reminded of a quote my Abraham Lincoln. He said, “The reason why I am a success today is because I once had a friend, who believed in me, and did not have the heart to let him down.”

This story is about my son, in whom I am very happy for. He was always overweight during his first 18 years of life. In earlier 2000 he decided it was time to lose weight. This was the first time he had ever expressed a desire to lose weight. Not long into his diet the commercials with the now “infamous” Jared starting appearing for Subway. I have to say Jared may not have inspired my son to start dieting. Not only was he inspired to keep dieting he found a new love for “you guessed it” Subway’s low fat sandwiches. He worked at night and his normal supper was eaten after he returned home at 10:30pm. After seeing Jared’s success, he started taking a Subway sandwich to work and eating it at a normal supper hour. His starting weight was 300 lbs., his finished weight was 180 lbs. His weight 9 years later is still 180 lbs.

At the time of his weight loss my family encouraged him to send his story to Subway so he could be in a commercial with Jared. Now ironically Subway is having a contest for a chance to be in a commercial with Jared. I secretly entered my son’s name. I sure hope he wins. I am also going to watch for a place on Jared’s tour that is nearby. Just maybe he will finally be able to meet Jared face-to-face. As a proud mother I want to send a BIG THANKS to Jared and Subway.

I can remember the last visit to the doctor’s office, 262 pounds. I decided right then and there that I was going to do something. I’ve seen the commercials. I knew that if it could work for Jared, it could work for me.

I have a healthy breakfast, a 6-inch Turkey Breast on wheat with Frank’s hot sauce for lunch and the same 6-inch for dinner. I also work out 5 days a week on the treadmill for 30 minutes and have lost 50 pounds in a six-month period. I truly believe that Subway has helped me out. I am a regular at the store I go to. I am a mother of an 8-year old boy and a 3-year old girl. I started to eat Subway after I gave birth to my daughter. The healthiest way I have found to control my weight is by eating Subway footlong sandwiches several days per week. Perhaps that is not sexy, but it is interesting when you consider that I have been a practicing doctor of chiropractic medicine for thirty-one years who has advised thousands of patients with respect to weight management and nutritional health. Permanent weight loss can ONLY be achieved by changing one’s nutritional model and living it. Diets per se never work! Well, after visiting the Subway for lunch one day close to where I work, I fell in love with the fresh vegetables and fresh bread. I convinced several of my co-workers to join me there at lunch time. That has been 2 years ago. Since then, they don’t ask me anymore where I am going to lunch, they know it’s Subway! They all laugh at me and tell me how I love to eat the same old thing each time! But each time is like the very first time! I even crave it! If circumstances at lunchtime keeps me away from Subway, my friends tell me I am irritable and need a “Subway” fix! I left the U.S. Army a Disabled Veteran, not really knowing what to do with my life, got depressed, which led to over eating. My top weight was 265 lbs. I was pounding down burgers like I was still a soldier. Now I have lost 40 lbs. I did it exactly the same was as Jared. I walked to Subway everyday. I think people at my local Subway think I’m crazy–I still go there at least 5 times a week, even after the weight loss–its been 4 years of healthy eating and it worked (this is 100% true) I am not fat today because I go to Subway. In the fall of 97 I began walking and eating low fat. I lost 120 pounds over the course of 1 year. I did a solo cross country bicycle trip, riding over 2000 miles in 17 days prior to returning to college. When I returned to college in 2002 I began to gain weight. Finally at the end of 2007 I am back to a healthy lifestyle. I have lost 27 pounds since 12/26/07 and hope to lose 50 more to get back to a healthy weight.

A desk job with long hours left me overweight and inactive. I decided to make a change in my life so I committed myself to doing the Susan G Komen Breast Cancer 3 Day Walk and eating healthier. Inspired by Jared’s commercials I began to replace my normal fast food habit with healthy subs from Subway and started training (admittedly very slowly at first) for the 3 Day Walk. Nine months later I had lost 30 pounds and was able to complete the entire 60 mile walk. A little over a year ago, while I sat watching Monday Night Football and munching down my favorite potato chips, my son looked over at me and said, “Dad, you’re fat.” Sad to say, he was right.

That night, I vowed to my son that I would begin a weight-loss program the next day. He said, “You’ll never do it.” But, with the help of Subway (where my local Sandwich Artists now know me by name) I lost more than 50 pounds in one year! First I lost 10% of my body weight, then 30 pounds–and finally 50+. Wow! I knew if Jared could do it–so could I!

Now; I have much more energy; can keep up with my 13 yr old, I sleep much better, and I don’t run out of breath walking up stairs. Besides all this, people tell me that I look much better–and, I feel more confident in everything I do. I’m glad I made the commitment to ‘Eat Fresh’ at Subway.
