Entrepreneurial Spirit

The SUBWAY® culture embodies the entrepreneurial spirit of our founders and the thousands of successful restaurant owners that have helped to grow and shape the SUBWAY® brand over the years.

Our restaurant franchise model empowers individuals to own their own business, creates job opportunities and stimulates economic development in local communities worldwide.

We understand the importance of continuous training and improvement in all that we do. All SUBWAY® franchisees receive intensive and on-going training that includes a combination of classroom and in-store experiences as well as access to the web-based University of SUBWAY®.

Our franchisees are encouraged to use a learning ladder approach for staff development to promote achievement, a sense of pride, and provide an avenue for career advancement.

For many with an entrepreneurial spirit, their first job has become a career opportunity leading them to open and operate their own SUBWAY® restaurant. Take Jason Mosely of Mocksville, North Carolina.

Jason said he always wanted to manage a restaurant, but never thought about owning one.

When he began his college education he saw himself as a future computer programmer. After a short time, Jason switched his major to business management, a decision that eventually led him towards owning his own business and becoming his own boss.

“I started as an assistant manager with a Subway restaurant in Mt. Airy, North Carolina,” said Jason. “When the manager left a month later, I stepped in.” The rest is history.

"To me, the appeal has always been that Subway does not serve alcohol, there are no grills and you don't turn your back to customers. I enjoy the face-to-face contact. I love going to work everyday. I'm really happy - and very pleased with the set-up at Subway."
